‘Tulip’…. A soft spring flower that is beautiful; that stands proud yet bows in modesty to nature; a graceful bloom with pleasant streaks of color; strong & signified; a cosy cocoon….almost like a Woman. Our hospital is a proud attempt to attend to this woman with expertise, care & perfection…..that she well deserves.

Tulip Women’s Healthcare Centre is a Registered Nursing Home under Mumbai Municipal Corporation since July 2003.

Tulip is a Partnership between Dr. Rajeev V Punjabi & Dr. Sheetal J Sabharwal, both Qualified & Experienced Obstetrician Gynaecologists, who practice together as a team.

Tulip provides Complete Women’s Healthcare under one roof in the form of Maternity, Gynaecological and Surgical services. It is a state of the art Endoscopy ( key hole surgery ) and Fertility centre with Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery facilities.

Tulip is Mumbai’s First & Only* Waterbirth ( Hydrobirth ) Facility and one of very few in India.

Tulip is a Government Registered Safe Abortion & Family Planning Clinic.

Tulip is spread over 2500 sqft on the ground floor.
It has a broad independent entrance for access and three other emergency access doors.

Why Tulip stands apart

The teamwork approach consists of 2 full time Gynaecologist Obstetricians who work as one. All patients interact with both doctors and are equally comfortable with them. The staff and administrator focus more on comfort and support and provide a family atmosphere to women. The hospital does not have the feel of a medical establishment and yet is fully equipped with technology and upgraded regularly to world standards.
At Tulip we believe in individualised personal attention for women.
Care is taken to involve women and their relatives in all aspects of planning and decision making at every level of their Ante natal course and other treatment plans.
The maximum focus is on Information – Correct and Scientific Information in simple understandable language.

Water in Labour and Delivery

Tulip is the first institution to offer ‘ The use of Water in Labour and Delivery ’ or Waterbirth ( Hydrobirth / Hydrolabour ) in Mumbai and one of the first in India.

In October 2003, Tulip’s Dr. Rajeev V Punjabi & Dr. Sheetal J Sabharwal together delivered Mumbai’s and possibly India’s first reported and documented Water Baby.
Shantai Neelesh Prabhudesai’s son Mstr. Nishant is a healthy 6 yr old boy today.

As of November 2009, we are the Only Centre continuously doing Waterbirth ( Underwater Deliveries ) in Mumbai. We have used water for more than 125 women in labour and delivered about 50 of them in water pools at Tulip successfully and with no complications.
