Pioneer of Waterbirth in Mumbai,India

A rank holder in Mumbai University, Dr. Rajeev V Punjabi, after attaining every Gynaecological Qualification available in India, started his Practice in 2000, and spent 4 years performing Sonography in Obst. & Gynaecology ( More than 25000 Scans ), besides working as a Gynaecologist in Mumbai.

In July 2003, he joined hands with his colleague from LTMMC, Sion Hospital, Mumbai and long time friend Dr.Sheetal J Sabharwal to start Tulip Women’s Healthcare Centre in Khar(W), Mumbai, India.

In October 2003, he performed Mumbai’s First and one of India’s first documented and reported Underwater Deliveries – Hydrobirth successfully. He continues to promote the use of Water in labour and delivery ( Waterbirth ) with great enthusiasm.

He has Recently joined Hinduja Healthcare Surgical Hospital, Khar(W), Mumbai as a Panel Gynaecologist, Obstetrician and Endoscopic Surgeon.

He is also attached to Shushrusha Hospital Dadar(W) since 2011.

He is also a Visiting Consultant at Breach Candy Hospital and St.Elizabeth Hospital, Mumbai, India.
Since 2005 he has branched into Fertility treatment and Endoscopic Key Hole Surgery, and trained extensively in Kerala and France and now Performs Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery in all the attached hospitals while continuing to practice Basic Maternity & Gynaecology.

He excels in Gynaec Ultrasound which is a passion He conducts extensive Ante Natal Programmes for Tulip’s patients, out of personal interest in teaching and educating Pregnant women.

He is an able administrator and enjoys upgrading Tulip constantly to match International
Standards of Healthcare.

His Spouse Dr. Avani R Punjabi MD, DA — is Tulip’s Full time Anaesthesiologist. They have two lovely children – Nakshatra & Ranveer.
